What is it like to be a member of Abbey Musical Society?

"Abbey is like a family"

The cast of Jesus Christ Superstar, March 2019

Our aim is to promote "Live Amateur Theatre" in our locality and we offer an enjoyable, worthwhile hobby, one which gives great pleasure to our members and to the numerous people who make up our audiences

Members not only have the opportunity to appear on stage but also to try their hand at many skills and activities which take place behind the scenes.

Abbey Musical Society was formed in 1949 with our first production, "The Mikado" being performed in the same year. We currently have about 70 members, with around 50 appearing on stage and the remaining 20 working behind the scenes. Two shows are produced and performed by us each year, a musical in March and summer concert in July.

We meet from September to July, one to two nights a week at Greengate Junior School, Barrow-in-Furness from 7:30pm until about 9:30pm
